POSIX

POSIX® is a family of standards defined by the IEEE to give a minimum API and interface standardization across the variants of UNIX® operating systems.

One part of it is the standardization of minimum functionality and behaviour of the system shell and some utilities (commands).

  • UNIX is a registered trademark of The Open Group in the US and other countries.
  • POSIX is a registered trademark of the IEEE Inc.
