My provider forces me to publish my full and true name and address here. Otherwise they can close and lock the account. I strictly contradict every unpermitted use of my name and address. Hi Jan,

I highly suggest to remove the paragraph with alternative (by closing both filedescriptors):

$foobar >ampersand- 2>ampersand-

This is not working as one might expect: the error about not being able to write to ampersand1 will also have no chance to being output and the whole consruct returns an error as return code:

$ ls >ampersand- ls: write error: Bad file descriptor $ echo $? 2 $ ls >/dev/null $ echo $? 0 $

(Sorry, the key-tags are not working and a real ampersand stops the processing.)
